You’ve no doubt heard of retinol, the anti-ageing ingredient (aka Vitamin A) that celebrities swear by. As well as helping to minimise fine lines by stimulating cell turnover, it’s also prescribed for improving pigmentation, acne, and skin texture. If you've experienced skin purging, irritation or skin peeling from using Vitamin A in your routine, you have likely used a retinoid. I have opted for a more nourishing, less irritating form of Vitamin A.

Our Vitamin A is also vegan (yay), because I don't think animals should be a part of our daily skincare.

I love to use my Vitamin Serum A most of the year. I love how hydrating it is. I usually use my Vitamin Serum A at night, and don't follow with a moisturiser during the summer and warmer months as the oil serum is enough for my combination skin.

Massage 1 to 2 pumps onto face, avoiding the eye area, at night after cleansing.

Allow to absorb (at least 5 minutes given the oil base), then follow with your favourite moisturiser if needed.

If you are acne-prone or have oily skin, you may find you don't need to follow this serum with a moisturiser.

Our serums last for an average of 6 weeks.

TIP: Serums are best used for 3 months’ at a time. Serums are best applied from lightest-weight to heaviest-weight. This serum is in a nourishing oil base, so is best applied as your last serum as this makes it a heavier product.

Note: Vitamin A increases photosensitivity, which makes skin more sensitive to the sun. It is imperative to use an SPF daily when using any Vitamin A to minimise the increased risk of sun damage. This is also why it’s important to use vitamin A at night only.

The general medical consensus is that all forms of topical Vitamin A (including retinyl palmitate, retinol, and tretinoin) should be avoided during pregnancy due to the potential, albeit low, risk of absorption into the bloodstream and effects on fetal development. While retinyl palmitate is considered to have a lower risk profile compared to stronger retinoids, many dermatologists and healthcare providers still recommend discontinuing use during pregnancy as a precaution.
