I treat acne over and over, and most often before patients see me they are using an extensive skincare routine which is too harsh for their already impaired barrier, and leaves someone with oily skin in a position where they have dry skin and dry actives (flaking happening on actives). If a cleanser is too harsh or stripping for you (let me save you time... if it has SLS or sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate listed in the top 10 ingredients, it belongs in the trash), it will leave your skin feeling tight and, over time, more sensitive, irritated and inflamed or red. It's important to remember that a healthy skin barrier needs sebum - and, yes, you may produce too much sebum (there's a million things that can contribute to overproduction from an internal level, but your pore size is also a genetic contributing factor) - but stripping away your sebum instead of regulating it is going to cause more problems than you started with.

Sebum production which is congested or impaired can be corrected by using topical oils, which is recommended for the most gentle cleansing option possible and to help regulate oil production. If you strip your barrier of oil, like SLS and other irritant ingredients do, you will overproduce sebum as a rebound response and end up with skin that is not regulated and not only congested, but irritated and dry. Oil cleansing is the perfect option for regulating this.

On the other hand, dry skin types and eczematic skin types can't tolerate gel cleansers or anything that strips any oil from the skin. This hypoallergenic and nourishing Oil Cleanser can provide hydration to the skin whilst providing cleansing action, which is so needed where there is hyperkeratinisation and increased flaking in active dry skin conditions.

Massage 2-3 pumps of oil cleanser onto dry skin, allowing it to dissolve makeup, SPF, and impurities. Add a splash of warm water to emulsify, transforming the oil into a silky milk. Rinse thoroughly or gently wipe away with a damp cloth for a soft, nourished finish. Follow with a second cleanse if needed.
Unlike gel cleansers, which foam and lift debris with surfactants, oil cleansers work by binding to excess oil and impurities, melting them away without stripping the skin. The result? A deep yet gentle cleanse that preserves the skin’s moisture barrier, leaving it feeling hydrated, balanced, and replenished—never tight or dry.

If you don't like the feeling of oil cleansing and feel it's too rich for your skin, try following your oil cleanse with a mild gel cleanse (using only half the amount you normally would) to reduce oil left on the skin. Removing the oil cleanser with a face washer or pad helps to do this manually, which means you're not left with the feeling of there being too much oil on your face after cleansing.
