Savior Barrier Balm 50g

Shea Butter – A skin barrier superhero, shea butter is rich in triterpenes and cinnamic acid esters, which have anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Its high concentration of stearic and oleic acids provides deep moisturization, reinforcing the lipid barrier and preventing moisture loss. Shea butter also contains vitamin E and catechins, both potent antioxidants that protect against environmental damage.

Jojoba Oil – This skin-compatible oil mimics the skin’s natural sebum, making it an ideal replenishing ingredient for compromised barriers. Rich in beta-carotene, lycopene, and flavonoids, this vibrant oil (literally, so rich in antioxidants it's got a beautiful red colour) helps reduce inflammation, speed up wound healing, and protect against oxidative stress that can worsen skin conditions.

Carrot Seed Oil – Brimming with carotenoids, vitamin A precursors, and polyphenols, carrot seed oil is a potent skin-regenerating ingredient. It boosts collagen synthesis, enhances elasticity, and provides antioxidant protection. Its natural anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties also make it beneficial for soothing irritation and supporting a healthy skin microbiome.

Zinc Oxide – A time-tested skin protectant and barrier-repairing mineral, zinc oxide forms a breathable shield against external irritants while promoting wound healing, reducing inflammation, and calming reactive skin. This balm is a go-to in my clinical practise, where I see mostly cases of severe eczema and dry skin. Whether in a flared state or not, this balm is usually one of the only things that patients can tolerate due to its gentle and clean ingredients that pack a powerful punch when it comes to hydrating and soothing.

I've worked through different versions of this balm over the last 5 years and have been longing to release it retail because it works so well for many presentations, especially nappy rash and reducing inflammatory responses against irritants (like application prior to grass exposure where someone has a grass allergy).

I use this balm on my hands when I'm travelling and the moisture gets sucked out of my skin on the plane. It works so well to seal in moisture, especially if you've applied other products (I usually apply our seasonal Ancient Oil Elixir first, and seal all the goodness in with the Savior Barrier Balm).

I have purposely left out some of the more common and lengthy list of botanicals that you find in barrier balms, like Calendula, Hypericum, Peppermint and Lavender because when the barrier is quite impaired and irritated, botanicals that are essential oil rich are not tolerated as well, and can trigger off more of a flare. This balm is a culmination of many, many years of treating skin and treating hundreds and hundreds of patients. Safe for bubs, safe for irritated skin, safe for super dry skin, and safe all year round.

Given this is made for those who have more eczematic-prone skin, it's always advised to patch test prior to use, especially where there are allergies known or unknown. This is advised for all of our products, but especially where using products on impaired skin where the barrier can't tolerate as much.

This balm is solid at room temp, and is warmed to a softer and more absorbable state with heat from the skin. Dip a clean finger or a spatula/stick into the balm to get your desired amount out and either apply neat to the affected area, or warm in the fingertips for a moment and apply. If you experience sensitivity or irritation whilst showering or with application of water, it can be beneficial to also apply this balm prior to exposure to protect the barrier from irritants. Due to the beeswax content, the phytonutrient content will remain sealed in the skin, and water exposure will not leach the goodness of this balm from the skin.
